HONOR Classes

The Honors Program prepares transfer students for upper division coursework and helps them navigate the college admissions process. The program builds on the view that competence requires motivation, knowledge, and skills application and moves students from area-specific learning to integrated problem-solving.

HONOR 200 – Transfer Success Seminar

*satisfies a Humanities Area I requirement

Students who enroll in HONOR 200 will

  • research admissions requirements for 4-year colleges and universities, as well as programs and majors
  • write personal statements/college-application essays for 4-year institutions they want to attend
  • explore financial aid options for funding higher education
  • research and apply for scholarships
  • create an academic resume
  • build a support network of students, staff, faculty, and administrators
  • develop strategies for identifying, mitigating, and managing transfer shock

The best time to enroll in HONOR 200 is one quarter before or the quarter in which your applications to 4-year schools are due. Specifically, Running Start students should enroll in HONOR 200 in spring or summer of their first year or fall of their second year.
